Waiting on Wednesday- Blood Magic

Waiting On Wednesday is a meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

Release Date: May 24, 2011
Publisher:  Random House Books for Young Readers
Paranormal/Supernatural

Synopsis from GoodreadsThis page-turning debut novel will entice fans who like their paranormal romances dark and disturbing. It's a natural next-read for fans of Stephanie Meyer, Carrie Jones, and Becca Fitzpatrick. But instead of mythical creatures, blood magic has everything to do with primal human desires like power, wealth, and immortality. Everywhere Silla Kennicott turns she sees blood. She can't stop thinking about her parents alleged murder-suicide. She is consumed by a book filled with spells that arrives mysteriously in the mail. The spells share one common ingredient: blood, and Silla is more than willing to cast a few. What's a little spilled blood if she can uncover the truth? And then there's Nick—the new guy at school who makes her pulse race. He has a few secrets of his own and is all too familiar with the lure of blood magic. Drawn together by a combination of fate and chemistry, Silla and Nick must find out who else in their small Missouri town knows their secret and will do anything to take the book and magic from Silla.

So, let me get this straight. This book thinks that it can just start off its synopsis mentioning some of my favorite authors and I am automatically going to click on it on goodreads and add it to my TBR list and use it in a Waiting On Wednesday??? Well of course! I appreciate the tactics. And I am so glad it did. This book sounds like it is going to be really good. A paranormal book tapping into the "primal human desires" how fun does that sound. And I am all about more political references in YA books. I think I am really going to like this one. The main character seems intriguing. I mean who isn't sometimes drawn to blood. It's going to be really something reading this book from that perspective!

Waiting on Wednesday #18 -Wake Unto Me

Waiting On Wednesday is a meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

Release Date: March 31, 2011
Publisher:  Speak
Paranormal/Ghosts
A haunted castle, a handsome young man dead for four hundred years, one heck of a scary portrait of a witch, and a treasure hunt -- not to mention a princess for a roommate! -- all await 15 year old American girl Caitlyn Monahan when she earns a scholarship to a French boarding school. There are secrets behind the stone walls of Chateau de la Fortune, buried for centuries along with the mystery of who killed Raphael, the charming ghost who visits Caitlyn at night. But as Caitlyn unearths the history of the castle, nothing scares her as badly as the secret she learns about herself, and the reason she was chosen to come to the Fortune School. And nothing breaks her heart as badly as falling in love with a dead guy.

I blame Meg Cabot's mediator series for my new infatuation with ghost books. They sound so intriguing and I love the different ways a love story can play out when one of the characters happens to be dead...ooh, ahh, interesting!

Waiting on Wednesday #16- XVI

Waiting On Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

Release Date: January 6th 2011
Publisher: Puffin/Speak
Futuristic Fiction

In the year 2150, being a girl isn’t necessarily a good thing, especially when your sixteenth (read sex-teenth) birthday is fast approaching. That in itself would be enough to make anyone more than a little nuts, what with the tattoo and all – but Nina Oberon’s life has taken a definite turn for the worse. Her mother is brutally stabbed and left for dead. Before dying, she entrusts a secret book to Nina, telling her to deliver it to Nina's father. But, first Nina has to find him; since for fifteen years he's been officially dead. Complications arise when she rescues Sal, a mysterious, and ultra hot guy. He seems to like Nina, but also seems to know more about her father than he’s letting on. Then there’s that murderous ex-government agent who’s stalking her, and just happens to be her little sister’s dad. - from Goodreads

From the cover, I thought this book was going to be about cutting, but its not at all. Its sounds really intriguing and original. I haven't read much futuristic fiction before, but this one sounds like a great one. Is anyone getting tired of the whole "mysterious hot guy" concept...I know I'm not!!!

When Clara’s Purpose leads her family to Wyoming, Clara finds the boy of her visions, Christian, but complicating her mission are her growing feelings for another guy, Tucker. As the day in her visions draws closer, Clara discovers that her Purpose may play into a larger struggle between angels and Black Wings—fallen angels who spread sadness and misery wherever they go. But when the fire erupts and both Christian and Tucker are in danger, who will she choose to save? From debut novelist Cynthia Hand comes a riveting tale full of supernatural powers, forbidden romance, and the choice between fulfilling your destiny or following your heart.

Pretty colors, fancy fonts, incredible synopsis, equals perfect candidate for a WoW . Even though love triangles are not my favorite-at all. I always get attached the the first guy then I end up hating the second guy or the other way around and it ends with my hurtling the book across the room a couple times. I'll give this one a try just because it sounds and looks amazing!

What are you guys waiting for this week?

Waiting on Wednesday #12- Warped

WoW, I haven't done one of these in a very long while but I missed it so I decided to bring it back. This week's I am featuring two books for Waiting on Wednesday. The first book is Warped by. Maurissa Guibord.

Things get weird after Tessa Brody's father buys a dusty old unicorn tapestry at an auction. The wild, handsome creature woven within it draws Tessa, and frightens her too. One day she pulls a silver thread from the tapestry and releases the unicorn. Only he isn’t one at all. He’s William de Chaucy, a young sixteenth century English nobleman with gorgeous eyes, a weird accent and haughty attitude to spare. Will was trapped in the tapestry by Gray Lily, a sorceress who stole the thread of his life and relies on its energy for her eternal youth. Now Gray Lily wants her unicorn back and she’ll do anything to get him. If that isn’t bad enough “his lordship” de Chaucy seems to think Tessa is someone she’s not: the girl who trapped him so long ago in the forest. Despite the sparky chemistry between them he seems to have the strange idea that she’ll be his undoing once more. Maybe she will. Because there’s a connection, an attraction to Will that Tessa can’t deny. She’s even beginning to dream about events in a forest of long ago. Or is she reliving them? But Tessa knows one thing for sure. She could never be some heartless twit of a virgin who would trap a unicorn.
This book sounds like it is going to be amazing. For some reason the plot sounds familiar. Like something I read in a manga or something, but either way it sounds like it is going to be incredible.

The second book is The Iron Witch. Is it just me or whenever you hear a title with the word Iron in it do you immediately think of Faeries too?

Freak. That’s what they called seventeen year-old Donna Underwood in high school after a horrific fey attack that killed her father when she was just a child. Her injuries and rehabilitation resulted in magically enhanced strength, thanks to the iron tattoos branding her hands and arms. As a child of the alchemists, she is both blessed and cursed with a magical heritage that doesn't leave much room for boys, parties and homework. Now, after ten years of wishing for a normal life, she finally has to accept her role in the centuries-old war against the darkest outcasts of Faerie: the Dark Elves. Aided by a gorgeous half-fey dropout, Donna must race to save her best friend’s life - even if it means betraying one of the world’s greatest secrets and confronting the very thing that destroyed her family.

I really just think the artwork in this cover is simply beautiful. It is so intricate and detailed, I love it!!! Though it is a long long wait until the release date,  I'm just going to have to withstand! What do you think of this book? What are you waiting for this Wednesday?
